Product for Profit 4/27 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Discover how anyone can sell their products or inventions to the world’s largest retailers without any previous sales experience and without any existing buyer relationships. You will learn simple tricks and strategies about how to get a buyer’s attention and ultimately how to get them to actually buy!

 

Federal and State Basics of Payroll Tax 4/29 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM This class guides participants through the basics of that preparation. Subjects include determining independent contractor versus employee, withholding taxes, deposits and completing the proper forms. Presented by the IRS and the California EDD Tax office.

Lessons Learned from Prince about Achieving and Maintaining Success in the Music Industry 4/29 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM Through the analysis of arguably this most respected performer, you will learn the formula for achieving commercial success and the factors which lead to building a community fan base that can help you establish and maintain a successful music career. We will examine how Prince was able to break into the music industry on his terms at the age of 18 and have a long and storied career that has included number one songs; films; a myriad of awards; respect from his peers; love by his fans; and legendary status. Intermediate QuickBooks 4/30 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM Topics consist of preparing 1099s, payroll, setting preferences, restoring files, and list maintenance including your chart of accounts, customer, vendor, and class lists. Food Safety Certification – Golden Gate Restaurant Association 5/4 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM State law requires that specified food facilities employ at least one person who has successfully passed a California State approved and accredited food safety certification exam. As of January 1, 2000, certification is mandatory and re-certification is required every three years. Registration and information is available at www.ggra.org

This class will give you an overview of what you need to start your own business. Learn what licenses and permits are needed, uncover marketable skills that you already possess, identify a target market and evaluate the break even point for your offering. If you’ve been thinking about a business idea, this is a great way to explore its feasibility.

Basic Bookkeeping, Part One 5/7 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Learn basic accounting and bookkeeping terms and processes. Topics include cash vs. accrual accounting, proper accounting data flow processes, the importance of budgeting, the purpose of different financial reports, the differences in computer accounting systems, cash management, and more. $30 registration fee. How to Collect Your Business Debts 5/7 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM This seminar will cover what kinds of purchase orders you should use to minimize the chance of problems, how to maximize your chances of being paid for credit chard charges, and how to take security to insure you will be paid. Then if you are not paid, how to get a judgment in small claims court and above all how to collect on the judgment.
