Position Summary

The Associate Loan Officer (ALO) is a developmental role within the Loan Officer job family designed to provide meaningful exposure to credit analysis, SBA submission support, portfolio risk work, and underwriting execution. This role serves as a structured entry point into the Loan Officer career path and is intended for high-potential team members preparing to transition into full Loan Officer responsibilities over time.

The ALO combines recurring production responsibilities with hands-on involvement in live transactions, building core competencies in underwriting, SBA processes, and deal execution.

Key Responsibilities

Credit and Underwriting Support

  • Complete No Adverse Change (NAC) reviews and related credit support tasks
  • Assist with 327s, loan increases, and modification memos
  • Perform basic financial analysis to support credit evaluation
  • Support Loan Officers with verifying prepaid equity injection and reviewing supporting documentation
  • Assist with affiliate spreading and analysis on a project basis
  • Complete appraisal review checklists and support overall credit file accuracy

SBA Submission Support

  • Prepare loan files for SBA submission, ensuring completeness and proper document organization
  • Support SBA submissions on an as-needed basis to assist with Loan Officer capacity constraints
  • Perform manual data entry when required, including CAFS and E-Tran support
  • Ensure submission packages are accurate, compliant, and submission-ready

Pre-Qualification and Workflow Support

  • Manage Pre-Qual Express workflows, particularly for non-contract opportunities
  • Act on assigned pre-qualification tasks through internal systems such as Salesforce
  • Assist in moving deals forward by coordinating documentation and preparing files for next-stage review

Risk Rating and Portfolio Support

  • Assist with origination risk rating as part of the NAC process
  • Support portfolio risk rating activities in coordination with the Portfolio/Servicing team
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency in risk-related data and documentation

Cross-Functional Credit Support

  • Flex into priority deals or workflows where additional credit support is needed
  • Assist with complex or high-volume transactions requiring additional analysis or documentation support
  • Partner with Loan Officers, Closing, and Portfolio teams to support efficient execution

Calificaciones

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; or 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial lending, with a focus on SBA 504 loan programs and practices.
  • Experience in SBA lending, commercial lending, loan processing, or credit support
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to perform basic financial analysis
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SBA 504 lending
  • Familiarity with CAFS, E-Tran, Ventures, and Salesforce
  • Exposure to financial spreading, affiliate analysis, and risk rating processes
  • Prior experience as a Loan Processor seeking advancement into underwriting

The base pay for this role starts at $40.00 per hour and may vary based on geographic location, experience, and qualifications – plus OT and bonus!
