Barbara Morrison, a Bay Area small business advocate and civic leader, is the founder and former CEO of\u00a0Financiamiento TMC<\/strong><\/a>, a certified Development Company (CDC) that provides SBA commercial real estate financing.<\/p>\n

In 1981, Barbara founded TMC Financing to provide access to affordable capital with the SBA 504 loan program for small business owners to purchase the real estate utilized by their business. From 6 employees lending in just the 9 Bay Area counties, TMC has grown into the largest CDC in the nation, financing projects in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Hawaii. In 2025, TMC\u00a0provided $2.4 billion in financing for 548 small businesses.<\/p>\n

Recognizing the needs of smaller entrepreneurs, not able to take advantage of SBA real estate financing, in 1999, Barbara founded \u202fSoluciones de trabajo<\/strong><\/a>\u202fa Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Working Solutions was “incubated” in the TMC office until it grew into self-sufficiency.\u202f Today, it is one of the most successful CDFIs in the country, providing access to capital for under-served entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Barbara founded\u00a0Capital de la comunidad TMC<\/strong>,<\/a> an online, technology-based micro lender \u00a0CDFI. Since its inception, TMC Community Capital has funded $20 million in microloans to more than 1,500 small businesses, maintaining a 98.5% repayment rate.\u00a0 Notably, 77% of returning clients receive a larger loan amount demonstrating their financial growth.<\/p>\n

Morrison developed her passion for small business economic development early in her career while serving as deputy director of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Economic Development.<\/p>\n

A former mayor and city council member for the city of Belvedere, Morrison has been widely recognized for her advocacy for women and small business owners, as well as the leadership she provided for many community and nonprofit organizations.<\/p>\n\t\t
