NSBA’s 2014 Mid-Year Economic Report

In a recent report published by the National Small Business Association (NSBA), the review of small business owners and their mid-year economic outlook are covered.

The report focuses on the economic outlook, small business confidence, business growth, job growth, small business financing, and public policy. Overall, the report captured how small businesses are feeling about the future and stability of their operations. There was a positive economic outlook with more than 72 percent expressing confidence in the future of their business, with modest increases in the number of small-business owners who reported total increases in revenues and profits. Although, despite some positive movement, small businesses are still far from being fully recovered from the Great Recession. In terms of capital access, 72 percent of the small businesses surveyed have been able to obtain adequate financing, up from 70 percent six months ago and 65 percent one year ago. Economic uncertainty is by far the most significant challenge facing small business owners today.
